Summary: This book is about a family of critters. The boy critter is unhappy, because he says that nothing goes his way and life is not fair. The entire story he complains about not getting his way on anything. At the end he says that there is one thing that is fair. The last picture shows him smiling because he gets to stay up later than his younger brother and sister every night.

Personal Reaction: I thought that this book was okay. It is a good book to read because it shows that life is not always fair. When reading the book to children it would be good to explain why the boy did not get his way in the instances described.

Classroom Extensions: 1) I would have all the children write down a list of everything that they thought was not fair. I would them have them read their list and then we would discuss it as a class. 2) I would teach the children that sometimes in life you do not always get your way. I would describe to them times I did not get my way and things turned out better because of it. ( )

This is a cute story that teaches kids that not everything in life is fair, but you just have to go with it. There are some things that are better unfair as well.
