Het taalgebruik is redelijk overdadig, zodanig dat - in de Nederlandse versie toch - de zinnen niet altijd grammaticaal correct zijn. En dat is geen bewuste stijlkeuze, lijkt me. Het verhaal is voorspelbaar, de personages clichématig. Als eerste kennismaking met Capote valt dit tegen. ( )
Ook van Truman Capote had ik al heel lang niets gelezen. Wel vorig jaar de film gezien, en toen besloten dat ik In Cold Blood nu toch eindelijk moest lezen. In plaats daarvan werd het dus Summer Crossing.
