Several of Janie's friends fall in love or get married, mostly people who were introduced in earlier books in the series. But the Atherton and Willoughby families are so large that I can never hold them all in my mind - and the characters weren't all that developed, so I didn't find any of them particularly memorable.
I expect I'll read it again (and will make a list of all the characters from earlier books next time I read them!) - as part of the series, it's pleasant enough, other than the author's rather harsh ideas about raising babies and toddlers. But they were probably typical of the 1930s when this was published. However as a stand-alone book it would be overwhelming in the sheer number of characters.
Intended for teenagers, but nowadays these books are read more by nostalgic adults.
