Jamil, the poor weaver, wishes to marry the princess so that he can be happy, and so that he and his cat, Sardul, don’t have to work day and night weaving. Sardul quickly takes matters into his own hands, presenting a lovely piece of woven cloth to the princess. He tells the princess and the Rajah that his master is rich and wishes to marry the princess. The Rajah agrees, and the two are married in the finest of clothing. The conflict arises when Jamil takes the princess back home with him, and she realizes that he is just a poor weaver. The princess realizes that she loves Jamil, regardless of whether he is a weaver or a prince. She begins weaving cloth herself, and soon they really are rich! When the Rajah comes to visit, he sees that his daughter is living the rich life, and he never knows that it was not always so. The lesson seems to be that wits are a more important asset than money. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
