This book utilizes rhyming throughout the book and can help students with counting. Using this book teachers can incorporate reading into a simple math lesson that teaches students how to count and add. The story is about a mom cooking potatoes and as more people want potatoes they have to help the mom cook them. ( )

This book was so stinking cute! It reminded me of my own childhood when my own mother was cooking in the kitchen. This story is about a family who's mom is cooking dinner and one by one more people come by for dinner so she has to keep adding a potato in the pot so that everyone can eat! I really liked this story, thinking about how people would come by our house and just show up for dinner which was my favorite because my sister and I would stay up late and get 2nd helpings of dessert since we had guests...our parents were push overs when people were over.

This book is about a pig family that wants potatoes so they must help their mom in the kitchen. The book counts and rhymes throughout the story.
This is a good fantasy because it is a believable story that students can relate to and the characters are animals.

Mama pig has a hungry piglet, or 2. Or 3...How many pigs are going to come ask for potatoes? A fun family snapshot, that just happens to involve counting and gentle humor. ( )
