This was an educational yet informative read that introduces readers to the black footed ferret's of North America. I liked how the author included a note on the history of the animal; he also provides information on how the animal was able to recover in numbers through human interventions such as breeding programs. The main character, Phantom, seems to be different than his other siblings. He is quite daring and finds himself in dangerous situations. I guess that is the typical life of being a ferret. He is constantly stalking prairie dogs while being stalked by a coyote. There was a scene that was quite frightening where Phantom finds herself being hunted by the coyote on a winter night. She was able to escape the coyote's predatory pounce by diving in her burrow. She later finds another lone ferret which the two mate. Now, she has her own set of kits and life continues for the ferrets. Great story. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
When Phantom, the quickest ferret of the litter, pokes her head up and springs out of the tunnel, she begins her sometimes dangerous, always adventurous life on the prairie. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
