It wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad either. An overall good book. ( ) modern re-telling of the Biblical story of Ruth that has its moments when it absolutely works and its moments when you feel like the authors are trying too hard. It does have some slow spots, but the timeless story of redemption is well done. It did make me yearn for the orignal story in the Bible, which I went back and read. NCLA Review -It’s a very skilled author who can place a familiar Bible story in a contemporary setting—and hold the reader spellbound by the retelling. Tenney and Olsen do just that. They place Naomi’s journey back home (to Bethlehem) on a real map of the U.S., which includes biblically named towns linked by Interstate 70. For authenticity of place, the authors drove Naomi and Ruth’s route, though they didn’t experience the heart-stopping adventures the two women did as they crossed the country in Naomi’s terminally ill ’76 Chevy Impala. I found myself checking the Bible account every so often after I got rolling, amazed at how the authors worked details from the original account into the 21st century narrative. The characters are fascinating albeit flawed people like some who pass through our lives. A reader will never look at the book of Ruth the same way again, I assure you. It’s a great way to expose a person to this Bible story. Rating: 4 —DKW geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
