Summary:

Mrs. Lizzy calss is having an election, a classroom election for class president. Guy is the main charter in the story and he like to draw comic strips for the school newspaper. One day Mrs. Lizzy announces that there will be a class room election and the children get nervous because the classrooms bully Tank, is always the one to win because he scares everyone out of running. One day Mrs. Lizzys class gets a new student who is special, his name is Clint and Clint is in a wheel chair. Guy gets pressured in to running for home room president by his friends Clint and Zoe. Clint puts in a lot of work to make Guy be the best candidate like write his speeches and tells him how to present the people, you can almost say Guy was a puppet, Each of his friends steer him in opposite directions for his campaign. Zoe tells him to make promises to the people that he can’t keep and Clint tells him to be honest. Guy ends up losing the election because the class thinks he is a liar. In the end the class votes for Clint as a write in and Clint wins the election, and he makes Guy his vice president. In the end everyone gets what they want because Tank finally gets is out.

Personal reaction:

I didn’t like this book it was boring and long and drawn out. I was not interested in the story. However the comics in the book were cute and I found them funny. I think this is a good book for kids in about 4 or 5th grade. Who have an interest in student body president.

Classroom extension:

1. I can have the students draw similarities with real campaigning and this book. To teach them about our nations campaign election process.

2. I can have the students point out the bad things that tank did in the book that was considered bullying and have the students make up an adverse reaction for tank, to make him not be a bully. ( )

Summary:
This is the story of a boy named Guy Maloney who writes a comic strip entitled "Comic Guy" for his school's newspaper. All Guy ever wants to do is find funny material for his comics. Guys's classroom is having presidential elections and he finds himself running against Tank, the school's biggest bully. Not only is he running against Tank, Guy is also going up against Ollie, the science room's pet monkey. As the campaigning begins Guy finds himself in all kinds of funny situations.
Personal Reaction:
This was a very entertaining book to read. It was both fun and hilarious!
Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. After reading this book to my class I would have my students create their own comic strip. The comic strip would have to relate to events happening at our school.

2. After reading this book to my class we would have a history lesson. The lesson would be over the history of comic strips. ( )

Are you a great comic? Do you make everybody laugh? Hi I am Guy Maloney. I am the comic guy for the school news paper the barker. I get in to a lot of tragic spots. For example when I go to the Principal’s office I think I get of easy but get stuck pushing the new kid around in his wheel chair. Then there’s the time when my friends force me to run for class president. But running against Tank meant real running--work out type. Tank tries to force me to drop out. But at the end I find a way not to get pounded by Tank and not disappoint my friends. If you want to find out read Crazy Class Election. ( )
