The book is a historical overview of the Apache people; from the invasion and expulsion of their land, a continual struggle to maintain their culture and racial attributes, and their ability to adapt and survive through subjugation. From the coming of the Spaniards to the Anglos to conflicts among differing bands and treachery of government officials, their history was one of constant warfare and survival until they were confined to the reservations. ( ) Well done. Worcester does an excellent job of presenting a balanced viewpoint. It is detailed, and not one a typical student would necessarily read through, although it is readable and would be an excellent source for a research paper or researching a specific historical period or people. I found it thought provoking: How should the conflicts have been handled? How does understanding past conflicts help our understanding of current conflicts? Finally, how does knowing the past guide our actions for the future? geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
