Autumn Across America describes the scientific reasons behind seasons. This would be a great book to pair with weather and the change of seasons. It also has beautiful illustrations and describes the various changes that occur. It could be used with cross cutting concepts such as patterns or cause and effect. Finally this book could also be used to discuss migration and animal patterns. Connecting science to the world students see around them and nature could be a good way to get some students engaged in science. Autumn Across America is beautifully illustrated with gorgeous photographs of different autumn sceneries from all across America. I found this book very interesting and it read like a story where one fact was built upon another as the reader is moved through "Autumn Across America". The book begins by telling the reader that "Autumn across America is a season of memory and change." After this opening, it gives a summary of what Autumn is and the events and changes that occur. For example, days that are still warm to days that become shorter and colder, changing of the leaves, harvesting summer crops, what happens to insects and animals, etc. Throughout the book, the text was complimented by beautiful photographs which are, in turn, complimented by the perfect background color. The book gives the reader a feeling of autumn. I really enjoyed this book and felt that it is a good starting point for eager readers who want to learn about the seasons and, specifically, autumn. Which happens to be my FAVORITE season. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
