Op dit moment geen Discussie gesprekken over dit boek. i found the constantpoking fun at the romance genre, which she really wasn't rising above, a bit distracting ( ) In which true love triumphs with dollops of sentiment and worse, but Schmidt manages to contribute some comic relief. Typical Peters plot, with people breaking in and out of a guarded building, and a large cast of characters, almost none of whom are who they appear to be. Set in Egypt instead of Europe; there are a number of references to Amelia Peabody, who is an historical figure in the book's world. Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of the history or archaeology that make the Peabody novels rather interesting as well as entertaining. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Vicky suspects the authorities really want her to lead them to her missing lover, the art thief and master of disguises she knows only as "Sir John Smythe." And right in the shadow of the Sphinx she spots him. . . with his new flame. Vicky is so furious at this romantic stab-in-the-back, not to mention the sudden arrival of her meddling boss, Herr Dr. Schmidt, that she may overlook a danger as old as the pharaohs and as unchanging. . . a criminal who hides behind a mask of charm while moving in for the kill.
