Advance Reading Copy A good family drama, but it was a little long - everyone in it got 'on my last nerve' to quote Viola. Each has his or her own problems, some their own fault, some not. Mostly they're trying to cope, but for pretty much the whole book they're trying to avoid facing facts and taking responsibility. It was a little odd that each kid did the very thing Viola told them to do in her posthumous letters to them. A little pat, but the ending was nice. Finished this morning. I did like this book and want to read more by Terry McMillan. I always enjoy books about sisters. Not so sure if I liked the brothers story that much and the end. Everything ends perfectly. Everybody suddenly realizes that they were acting wrong. but all in all good book. 3.5 stars on goodreads geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Much-heralded and long awaited, Terry McMillan's tour-de-force novel introduces the Price family-matriarch Viola, her sometimes-husband Cecil, and their four adult kids, each of whom sees life-and one another-through thick and thin, and entirely on their own terms. With her hallmark exuberance and cast of characters so sassy, resilient, and full of life that they breathe, dream, and shout right off the page. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
