Cody returns to the house with a film crew and they’re attempting to film a movie about her life in the house. A few new things happen, but mainly it’s just them blocking scenes and things going wrong and people getting hurt in almost the identical way that it happened in the first book. ( ) Fear Street # 40 Kody Frasier vowed to come back to 99 Fear Street and rescue her sister, but she didn't say anything about not capitalizing on the fact! So HORRIFIC was the story of the Frasier's experience in the house, Hollywood came knocking and Kody is to be the star! She's playing the role of her older sister Cally, which is weird and totally not something that would trigger her lack of self-worth. It truly doesn't come up. The house is swarming with crew and special effects are being rigged up to duplicate the terrifying ordeal Kody went through just a few years ago. The timeline of this is super messed up, at what point in another Fear Street are we going to hear the characters reference that time a Hollywood film was shot in Shadyside? They don't talk about the girls murdered on the road to Prom Queen or because of dance ticket sales either, though, so I suppose that's consistent. I am missing the notes from the earliest books where the teens would swap stories with each other about the strange things that happen on Fear Street and in the Fear Street Woods. I digress. Kody is to be the star in the movie of her life and that star is of course her sister and some other teen actress is playing the role of Kody and being a real bitch about it. Production is not going to be smooth as special effects start backfiring right away and a certain vengeful ghost is behind it all. The book loads up on the gory details, but they're pretty much the same as in 'The First Horror', and the grand unveiling of the evil behind the evil seemed more Goosebumps than Fear Street. I mean, if I was evil incarnate I think I'd come up with a better final form than THAT. I was expecting a little something more after the buildup and from certain recurring characters. Oh well. Also, I don't know how the justice system works in the Fear Street Universe, because a lot of stuff happened that should not just be dismissed with a shrug and a "That's Fear Street" like it's the death of a cheerleader or something. There was a bit of sweetness at the end, though, so there's that. Possible spoiler alert: How dumb would you have to be to go back to a house that you know is haunted and filled with evil? Why would a movie made about a house that is known to be haunted and filled with evil be shot on location? At the very least, they should have kept cameras rolling at all times so they could catch the actual gore. At least the place finally got blown up. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
