I have to say it will be the last in the series for me. This book has two standalone stories; the first shows a man battling with his recent transformation to vamp & the second has a "P.I." (or is he?) going to a town in Mexico to investigate the disppearance of reportedly 400 of the their girls. The first story was fairly enjoyable for me- I liked the main characters conflict about his new desires and continued love of his ex-girlfriend. The second was imitally somewhat amusing due to the P.I.'s habit of doing his own quite audible "hard boiled detecive style" thoughts on the folks he encounters but ultimately it degenerated into a tasteless & unnecessary mish mash of violence (and being a large fan of the horror genre it takes a lot for me to say that- I often forget to warn people of gore lol). You can pick this up and read it without reading anything else in the 30 Days series but honestly I don't know why you would want to. Three and a half stars for the first story, Two for the second overall a very generous three stars (helped by my continued appreciation for the talent art work wise) Not reccomended geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

The world of the undead is a vast one, with many stories remaining to be told. In Bloodsucker Tales, Steve Niles continues the saga of 30 Days of Night with the bloody and terrifying story "Dead Billy Dead," illustrated by talented newcomer Kody Chamberlain. Matt Fraction (Last of the Independents) joins in with "Juarez," introducing Lex Nova, former private detective and free-range madman, illustrated by Ben Templesmith. The second story was "Juarez" which I previously read as a stand-alone. Juarez, with a second read, still made absolutely no sense to me. I enjoy the character of Lex Nova, who has a certain sort of Gonzo charm. I... still have no idea what the heck he was, or what he was doing, and am relieved to see that other people also found it incomprehensible. I wanted to like it, I really did, and I enjoyed the artwork on both stories immensely.
All in all, I'm going to continue reading the 30 Days of Night series through to the end. I'm not ready to give up on it just yet. ( )
