Great for the holiday valentines day This book is based on Valentine’s Day. It starts out with Clifford and his friends digging holes to hide their valentine treats and talking about how great Valentine’s Day is. Clifford leaves to go help Emily Elizabeth deliver her valentines. Elizabeth’s friend Charley explained to Elizabeth that he wouldn’t be going to the Valentine’s Day party later that night because he thought Valentine’s Day was too mushy. But Elizabeth told him that Valentine’s Day isn’t just about all the hearts and lace, it’s about showing people how much you care. Charley went with Clifford and Elizabeth to deliver the valentines and got to see how happy each one made all of Elizabeth’s friends. Later that night, after Elizabeth had delivered all of the valentines, she waited for Charley to arrive at the party. Finally he showed up, with valentines for both Elizabeth and Clifford. He thanked Elizabeth for showing him just how cool Valentine’s Day really is. This story is such a cute example of the true meaning of Valentine’s Day. I enjoyed it because most boys feel the same way Charley did. This book shows that it’s okay for boys to like Valentine’s Day just as much as girls do. It is really important to show people that you care, and this is a great example of that. In the classroom, you could have each student make a small valentine for someone they care about. Then you could have them make one big valentine to hang up in the classroom. Each student could write how special their classmates are to them and be reminded of that each time they see it. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
