These Dickinson’s poems were read by four actresses, but the cover of this audio version does not indicate who reads what. Some renditions were definitely better than others. Some just seem to be trying too hard to evoke emotions. But Emily Dickinson’s poems should do that without an over-the-top reading. That being said, the selection of these specific fifty poems seems to be a bit odd. If you were hoping to hear your favorite poems, you will likely be disappointed. There are a few well-known ones, but more of her rather obscure poems are included. The best part of this audio has to be the charming background music. If only there had been a track to turn down certain poems and turn up the music. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Four well-known actresses read these poems by one of the greatest American poets of the nineteenth century. Beginning always with particulars of personal experience, her poems encompass life and death, love and longing, joyfulness and sorrow. With sparse, precise language, she conveys a penetrating vision of the natural world and an acute understanding of the most profound human truths. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
