Unlike others, Brodie believes Nixon does possess a character; he is not a plastic man. But to her, the former president appears a paradoxical, deeply divided man. She sees Nixon as amoral because of his drive for power only for the sake of power, his need to exaggerate and repeatedly tell lies, and his hunger for wealth and status. To Brodie, Nixon seems an insecure, empty paranoid who lacks the ability to touch or love... even Nixon-haters from the Jerry Voorhis days will have to be appalled by the misappropriation of psychological analysis: at every step the man is made to look contemptible--now pathetic, now monstrous.
Analyzes the circumstances of Pres. Richard Nixon's life in an effort to define his underlying motivations. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
