My son devoured this book! ( ) I was able to read 4 myths, the one choose was Prometheus which is my favorite because it is the Greek myth tale about the creation of man. But there were other such as the tale Narcissus where he falls in love with his image, then the summarized tale of Jason and the Aquanauts, The story of Icarus with his sad ending because he fly to close to the sun. The other story I read was Pandora's Box, which is the tale of how this box contained all the evils that would plague humankind. Wonderful book and full of amazing legends, though there are no sources to where this author got his tales from. This is a nice collection of readable Greek myths in simple language from the author Eric Kimmel. Some tales were familiar to me such as those about Pandora, Icharus, King Midas, and Medusa. Others were delightfully new for me, like Echo, Theseus and Arachne. I appreciate the forward by the author that says myths such as these great relevance in our modern time of tech devices and visual media. He says that many of our stories are still based on these timeless tales. I read these Greek Myths at bedtime, and I think I could read them to my son during story time. In school, I think sharing these tales with students during history lessons would help add engagement. A great book that retold many great myths in a simplistic way. This is a great book to share with children to make Greek mythology accessible. I focused on the myth of Pandora's Box. I was vaguely familiar with the myth but after reading this story by Kimmel I more thoroughly understood the story and it's lessons. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
