Great collection of amusing poetry. ( ) Fun, rhythmic poems about animals, general silliness ("I Never Sit on Scrambled Eggs"), and hiding your vegetables. Prelutsky's subject matter and silliness remind me a bit of Shel Silverstein. The illustrations are fun, playful straightforward renditions of the subject matter, rather than using them to deliver a punch line as Silverstein often does. The rhythm and rhyme make for a bouncing read-aloud, which I think is the best fit for this book. Some of the words are pretty advanced, but fun to say, so I can imagine using this for younger elementary read-alouds or perhaps later in elementary to study common forms of rhyme. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
