This book spans too far a time period and thus omits many sources it ought to have. For it’s credit, it does have an excerpt from Dante’s On Monarchy that I haven’t seen in other books of this nature. It has the full text of Othello which is nice as well. The rest of the excerpt sources can be found in the better books that hone in on the subjects better: The Portable Renaissance Reader, The Portable Medieval Reader, and The Norton Anthology of English Literature: The Middle Ages - J
