I enjoyed this book, and found it very helpful. It is not "you must do this, you must do that," the feeling I get is more "these are the guidelines, here are the traditions, now work out what is best for you." I think the book would work as well for more Conservative families as it did for my Reform family. Also, I very much appreciated that the authors incorporated discussion on how to make Jewish traditions work in mixed families, and how to deal with the intrusion of the gentile world. The Ages & Stages breakdowns were terrific, with ideas on how to make holidays, celebrations, and other observances fun, or at least accessible, for all ages.
As a Jewish mother in a mixed marriage, living in a community that (as far as I can tell) is entirely non-Jewish, this book really helped me figure out what kinds of things I can do to establish a Jewish home and family life for my daughter. ( )
