Ten Little Monkeys is a counting picture book that counts down from ten monkeys all the way to one monkey. This book is about a group of ten monkey friends who slowly dwindle down in numbers after silly encounters with various animals until there is only one monkey left. Some of the animals they encounter in the book are bees, an elephant, and an alligator. I really enjoyed this book. I think that it would capture the attention of children with its rhythmic words and the silly adventures. The humorous pictures were big and colorful. Ten Little Monkeys would be a useful tool to use with younger children who are first learning to count. There are several different extensions that could be used to correspond with this book in a classroom setting. For example, the book could be made into a song and dance for the children to learn. They could imitate the different animals featured in the book while singing the words. Another good extension of this book would be for the class to make their own counting book. Each child could draw a picture of an animal that the monkeys could encounter to contribute to the class book. This is a counting book about monkeys. It teaches the children how to count down from ten by using amusing antics. It has a pop-up setting with monkeys hanging that you can take off as the read the story. I like this book due to the fact that it is interactive and colorful. The children will be learning by reading without being drilled on learning to count down from ten. The children can help you take off the monkeys as you read this story. As a story extender you can have the children act out or retell the story. You could also have them draw a picture of how the monkeys look in the tree. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Ten little monkeys swinging on a vine. One found a waterhole, then there were nine. So begins the tale of monkeys and mishaps that will have kids rolling with laughter as they learn an important math concept. As each monkey makes his amusing exit, readers can take a monkey counter off the 3-D pop-up tree that is included in the book. By the time children reach the part where only one monkey is left, they will have counted down from ten to one. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

I want this book in my classroom library! It’s an engineered book so I know the children would have a great time interacting with the monkeys. It’s a very cute book that will teach counting, rhymes, and different animals.
1) The classroom could have a center built around this book.
2) This book would be great to teach students how to count.
