La suite des aventures du plat et de la cuillère, fugitifs de la comptine anglaise bien connue Hey diddle, diddle. This book tells the story of two characters from a classic nursey rhyme. The Dish and the Spoon decide to run away together one night to seek fortune and fame. They lived life lavishly, until they ran out of money. They end up taking a few scary knives and a hammer up on their offer of lending them money. Now not being able to pay them back, and with their lives in danger, Dish and Spoon resort to robbing a bank. Things don't go as planned during their escape when Dish trips over a rock and breaks into many pieces. Without Dish by his side, Spoon gives up trying to escape and spends twenty-five years in jail. After serving his time, and not knowing where to go, Spoon stumbles into junk shop. There he finds Dish, who had been glued back together by the shop’s owners. Spoon convinces Dish that their adventures aren’t over yet, and they once again take off into the night. It would be interesting to see if students could come up with their own spin-off story involving other well known characters. I personally love stories of this nature, and while reading was reminded of a childhood favorite, "The True Story of the Three Little Pigs." This is a very cute book about the adventures that the pair of friends-the dish and spoon-have. Except one time they are caught and are separated for years! The ending is very cute, I dont want to give it away. I like this book because it teaches kids that actions have consequences. I would say this book is good for kids 6 and up, because that is about the time they learn their actions have effects. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
