This book is excellently researched, very well written, and entirely heart breaking. Olsen does a lovely job telling the whole story of not just Edward Lee King (the convicted rapist), but of his family, the victims and their families, and Steve Titus who lost so much due to King's actions. I would not recommend this book for the average reader. It is not complicated, or hard to read, but it is not a topic that the weak stomach can handle. I would recommend this book if you have enjoyed other works by Jack Olsen. He is a fantastic crime writer. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

The revealing facts about the justice systems and the over worked, under trained police forces that convict innocent victims for crimes committed by others carries an underlying theme to the story of McDonald Smith. Smith during treatment admits to more than fifty-five rapes though he is convicted for less than ten. Smith is also a consummate liar!
This is recommended reading for readers of true crime stories told by one of the best authors in Jack Olsen. Wouldn't you love to visit with Mr. Olsen and discover his research techniques? His books carry a vast amount of facts and figures that can only be taken from official records and family members or close friends of the criminal and the victims. How can one discover these documents let alone talk to the participants? ( )
