William the Conqueror is dead and his son Red William inherits. His younger brother Henry along with Edith, princess of Scotland find their lives entangling along with their magic. The magic that is being supressed by the Saxon religious.

This is a direct sequel to Rite of Conquest and actions in that story have repercussions for the characters in this story. I really did enjoy the read, with it's blend of history and fantasy. (
