Darkfright was a tale of a woman who was scared of the dark. She loved the light so much that when it became dark, she would light up her whole house. Eventually she found a star, and this star helped her not be afraid of the dark. Every night she would see this star, and she would remember that the darkness was not so bad. From this book, students would learn about courage, and how little things can help with fear. Something as simple as a shining star in the night sky. ( )

I could not follow this story at all. I think (?) it was about a girl who was afraid of the dark and the more she tried to fight it, she missed out on the things she did like (such as waking up and going to the market or playing on the beach on sunny days). In the end a shooting star falls into her house and she proclaims it's the most beautiful thing she's ever seen. She decides to reconcile her differences with the night and that's pretty much the end of the story. I liked the illustrations, which is why I gave this book 2 stars. ( )
