This book is as delightful as sneaking candy and not getting caught. ( ) I found this little gem in the bargain book bin at Barnes and Noble a few weeks ago. Wonderful book. It contains some snippets you might expect for works like "Life on the Mississippi," "Tom Sawyer," and "Huckleberry Finn," but it also contains a great many that I had never read before from essays, articles published in small local areas and speeches he made over the years. A lot was also from his autobiography, which I honestly didn't know existed (but now I'm on the lookout for it!). Some of these are tiny quotes like "Be good and you will be lonesome"......""You ought never to take anything that don't belong to you -- if you cannot carry it off".......and "Let us swear while we may, for in heaven it will not be allowed." But much of it was in longer pieces that were easy to read in short spans of time and many that I re-read several times, chuckling the whole time. I've always adored Mark Twain and this little book (only 173 pages) was a delight to read. I give it a very strong 5. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
