Op dit moment geen Discussie gesprekken over dit boek. trollope on the links. affecting to faint with grief at a particularly bad shot, he crashed down on the green, forgetting he had a ball in his pocket, and started up again with a yell of agony , quite unfeigned. golf is a dangerous game, his voice carried all over the links. at dinner he appeared to his guests as unkempt, clothes wrnkled and ill-made. he used bad language, and pooh-poohed the novels of walter scott, saying they were so dull. in a word, anthony gave offence. he was talking for effect, or victory, as that other unkempt englishman, sam johnson was wont to do. but readers of his autobiography well know, he considered WScott one of the greats. strangers had to reconcile this noisey, untidy, provocative man with the books he wrote. most of his friends thought him great fun, and he was often extended a second invitation. we remember the dope on frank harris: he was invited to all of the great houses of europe, at least once.
