The illustrations were very interesting and I feel as if there was a lot of meaning behind all of them. They all are extremely detailed and have a lot going on in them. For instance, on the page where "The Awful Ogre Attends a Concert" it shows that everything is mashed up on the stage whilst the crown is cheering and being rowdy the whole time. Secondly, I enjoyed the way that each poem was about the same Ogre, but was made interesting and drew the reader in. The Ogre is doing all sorts of crazy things which makes reading poetry fun. The big idea behind this book is to make poetry fun and interesting to read by joining the text with the pictures and following the crazy adventures of the Ogre. ( ) In a series of poems, Awful Ogre goes on a picnic with a his ogress, hunts bugs, wrestles crocodile, visits his Grandma and does a little ogre yoga. Awful Ogre is humorous, mischievous, and just plain silly. His childlike appearance and behavior will be quite relatable for children. Recommended for kids in Pre-K to Grade 3, Prelutsky's poems are witty, entertaining and fun to read aloud. The illustrations are bright and comical and match the action in the poems nicely. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
