This book I really enjoyed. Written in 1967, its clever prose and artwork is timeless. The story follows a group of 4 kids who try to solve the mystery of the blueberry pie thief. Each kid, Wizard, Skinny, Tubby, and Snitch, search high and low, only to find out the thief was a dog. Clever jokes snuck into the story are veritable enough crack up any child and adult with a sense of humor. Bonsall plays upon the names of the children; Wizard is a sleuth, Skinny is such, Tubby like to eat, and gets sidetracked from their search by food, and Snitch likes to tattle. The four combined make up a team that is equally as contrasting as it is cute. ( )
