2876 The Love Hunter A Novel by Jon Hassler (read 12 Jun 1996) This novel tells of Chris, a counselor at Rookery State, and Larry, a history teacher who is married to Rachel. Chris gets divorced and eventually falls in love with Rachel and resolves to kill Larry and takes him hunting in Canada with the intention of killing him. The book tells the story of Chris' life in flashbacks, and there is little moralizing--Chris is so oblivious to the moral horror of murder that it is revolting. Yet Chris is the protagonist! I did not like this book, it was not nearly as good as Hassler's first two. In fact, it was depressing to read of a book centering around a man intent on murder. ( )
