The illustrations are done in watercolors. The content is about a man who tells the king his daughter can spin straw into gold. The king locks the girl in a tower for three days to spin gold. A dwarf comes to her rescue and spins gold for her in exchange for her necklace, her ring, and her first born child. Later she marries the king and has a child. She bargains with the dwarf a second time to keep her child if she can guess his name. She guesses right the third time and gets to keep her child.
