I believe this book is especially useful for young children in the kindergarten, because the sentences are easily comprehendible with simple aspects in their lives such as "monsters," "faces," birthdays," "boats," etc. I really enjoy the illustrations that go along with the rhymes, because it looks like they were created with crayons, which is a drawing tool commonly used by children, therefore they can relate to making similar drawings. For instance, the funny statement "Lips have kisses...Snakes have hisses" is a short and east-to-follow for students to make a connection between two different things. There is a crayon illustration of a heart with two blue snakes sitting on a red couch. The snakes are surrounded by red and yellow hearts, and two cards with hearts drawn on them. Children can easily see the snakes tongues as they are hissing at each other. I believe the central message of this book is to give children new and interesting perspectives of looking at things in their lives, and things they read about. I give this book a three, because I think there were too many rhymes, which may bore younger children since they have a short attention span. ( )
