It's a beautiful story about a son and the love he and his mother share. We learn from the environment around us and this is a prelude to a child's interaction with the world around them. Not every parent fits into the same box and just because they look or act differently doesn't mean it's a bad thing. Monster Mama teaches us to look past the exterior. ( ) This book is certainly unique. The main character's mother is a monster but she cares for and loves her son very much. The boy runs into bullies and he stands up for himself and his mother. The monster mama does intervene and I assume scares the boys into behaving. After, she brings them to eat strawberry tea cake. This story has bullies in it and shows that one should stand up for themselves even when they're afraid. It also shows how love can be unconditional no matter what you look like. The theme of the book is about how children can stand up for themselves. That even though Patrick Edward’s mother is considered a monster, he loves her and would stick up for her. I believe children should be able to learn how to use their voice and their words when others are not being kind to them. Having these skills is socially appropriate and needed throughout a child’s life. I think that the illustrations did a great job helping the storyline express this moral. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
