The Titanic (the unsinkable ship) sank April 15,1912 a tragedy that is still spoken about 100 plus years later. This book tells the tale of a young boy (Will) and his family's experience on that fateful maiden voyage. The book gives details about the different decks of the ship and who slept on them. The story has illustrations that highlight key words and images that help to explain the story. The night that the titanic sank the women and children were allowed on the lifeboats first. Will wanted to stay with his dad, so he did until his dad found a lifeboat for Will. The book highlights the experience of Will in the lifeboat as he reunited with his mother and sister but dad could not be found. The Carpathia arrived to save those in the lifeboats and survivors. It wasn't until the ship docked in New York Harbor did Will, his mother, and sister get reunited with Dad; an otherwise happy ending to a tragedy. ( ) In this book, readers learn about the sinking of the titanic through two characters' eyes: Lucy and Will. I like how the book puts characters in the situation, so kids have a better time understanding what really happened; the facts that they do use are still effective! I would read it to grades 2nd-4th in a lesson plan about the Titanic. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
