The illustrations are the best part ( ) The book “A green horn blowing” is a tale told in a time of great disaster, during the great depression. The story is told, from the perspective of a child living on his aunt’s farm and working with the travelers who need jobs. This book has an interesting multicultural aspect to it; the book revolves around the friendship between a young white boy and an African American vagrant worker. The relationship between them is during a difficult time for African American’s with racism being very prominent. The pictures are realistic and interesting, that will draw in children of all ages. The art style of the boy that is the main character is very realistic and of which children could relate too. During the Great Depression, the farmer boy met a special family farm worker, John Potts, who taught him blowing horn. The boy expect their friendship will last in the symbolism of the trombolia. When the trombolia got cracked, John Potts leaving, the boy get upset. Latter he learned that their friendship is not dead because John Potts wasnot there, but their friendship will live on through the music that he learned from John.
