Escaping from a 6 month imprisonment as a sex slave to a demon, the hero starts to build her life back. She teams up with a mysterious man who turns out to be a rogue mech and is wanted by the law. The hero is extremely self conscious about his body with the metal all over and wants nothing more than to get rid of it. It breaks your heart how passionate and sad he is when he keeps insisting that he's not a machine, that he's human. The heroine is in denial about what she's turning into and when it finally hits her she breaks down and sobs. The hero, a gentle soul who cares a great deal for the woman is there to pull her up by her boot strings. That's what their relationship is like. When one falls or stumbles the other is there to help them. They can't trust anyone but each other and it's sweet how they interact. It's more than a romance, it's a friendship. From the four strata of Crimson City come rogues: vampire, werewolf, human, demon. These rebels, rakes and unsung heroes have turned their backs on the extravagant vampire skyway, the gritty werewolf underground, the iron-fisted human stronghold and the fiery power of the demon underworld. Walking a thin line between heaven and hell, they make their own rules and follow their own destinies. They will be the ones to determine if the City flourishes or fails. Cydney Brighton knows them well, for she too is now rogue. Having escaped hell, she's discovered that the City is not what it once was--and neither is she. Only one man understands her, understands what it means to be someone or something beyond control. He's ready to come out of the darkness; and part-man, part-machine, he's willing to sacrifice almost anything to make himself whole. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
