Back in 1960, many writers churned out lurid racy tales for Dimestore racks. Such books were considered sinful and titillating, although they are quite tame by today's standards. Silverberg, writing as Don Elliot, was one of the best of the soft core writers of that era. Typical of the plots of these books is the story here of a young innocent girl coming into the big city and being slowly seduced by money and charm first into posing for artist's nudes, then posing for stag films, and eventually being sent out for special assignments. The book doesn't glamorize the lifestyle, but shows how Lily is seduced by a smooth operator into doing things she would have previously considered scandalous. On the one hand, the money is fabulous, but on the other hand, this isn't exactly the type of modeling Lily had in mind. It's a smoothly written book and is a quick read. It was meant to be provocative and titillating and sleazy. ( ) geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
