Dear Kitty... Sounds familiar? Well if you were thinking Anne Frank You're correct! I will be talking about a girl named Anne Frank and how was life for her in World War Two..

It was too late. It was too late for Mr. Frank to send the girls to England. The Franks were listening on the radio and had heard that the Netherlands had surrendered to the German Army. The Jewish had to surrender and go to concentration camps. If they didn't they would either get killed or get sent into a Nazi camp . The Franks chose to hide in a place called " The Secret Annex ". They also had an another family to join them, the Van Pels and Dr.Pfeffer. They had to wake up at 7:00 to take showers and do what ever they needed until 9:30 because they don't want to make too much noise. They had some people to help them. There names were Miep and Mr.Kugler. The Franks hid in the annex for months, but sadly someone had snitched on them and the German police had caught them and took them to a "transit camp". Anne and her family was separated into genders. Sadly.. Anne never got to see her father again, even though she believed that she would. Her mom soon got taken away but Anne was still with her sister. They did pointless chores and Anne heard rumors about people come saving them but they never turn out true. Anne and her sister had become so ill they had died together in the same bed. When the war ends, the only one left in the family was Mr.Frank. Even the people who were also hiding with the franks died too. Miep had gave Mr.Frank Anne's diary. Mr.Frank could imagine Anne in her room writing in her diary. He had a new mission. His mission was to help Anne tell the story she wanted to tell.

One of the best history books ever. I'm a huge fan of history and this is the most amazing book ever. It gave out important information and explained everything that had happened. This author has done such a good job I'm going to start reading David Colbert's books. I recommend this too anyone even people who are not a big fan of history. Best. Book. Ever. ( )

Personal Response: This books is painful to read. I have read the Diary many times, but I didn't know about Anne's life after the Secret Annex was discovered.
Curricular Connection: Eighth graders could read this book in conjunction with Diary of a Young Girl. Students could discuss genocide and talk about the genocide happening today in Darfur. ( )

In less than a month, Anne will be eleven years old. She wishes she were older, like her sister, Margot, who's already fourteen. Margot's the quiet one. Anne has the big personality: talkative, happy, dramatic, and usually the center of attention. I'm older than her in a lot of ways, Anne thinks.
