New York
2. Write the summary of the book
Although stories of Viking ship reaching North America more than 1,000 years ago are true, there is no evidence that they landed in New York. Starting in the early 1500s, European ships sometimes anchored off the Atlantic coast and sailors rowed ashore. The first European to spent a lot of time was Samuel de Champlain. Champlain, a Frenchman, had spent many years trying to find a northern passage to Asia to make trading easier and faster.
From 1950 to the present, New York has gone through many ups and downs. As the pace of life grows faster and faster, New York always look to take the lead. Many felt that New York City became the world's most influential city. As New York peers ahead into the 21st century, it has an advantage that perhaps no other state does. Thanks to for incredible centuries in the national spotlight, it need only look to its past for the lessons it must learn to make its future bright.
3.Write your feelings about the book in details.
"The Haudenosaunee were also skilled farmers. Dutch and English settlers respected them because they were well organized and good warriors. The Haudenosaunee way of life was not destroyed until the America Revolution (1775-173)" (P.6)
It's so rare case that European settlers respected other people.
4. Write the words, phrases or sentences that impressed you the most in the book and explain why they impressed you. Or you could write your questions about the book.
"New York slugger Babe Ruth changed baseball into a power game with his home-run hitting, and Yankee Stadium became the most sports arena in the world". (P.33)
Although I cannot find which sentence mentioned about the history of sports, I was impressed there was a time of cricket and baseball in America. ( )
