Edward loves The Legend of Tarzan, and when he goes outside to play with his Tarzan animals, his world transforms into a jungle. A crocodile tries to eat him, but Tarzan saves him. Tarzan teaches him how to make the call that summons all of the animals. Edward saves saves an antelope from being eaten from a leopard, and saves the same crocodile (that tried to get him) from being taken away by hunters. The illustrations in the book are magnificently colorful, and done on acrylic and watercolor board. ( )

This book was great, I really felt like I was there. Edwards dreams come true as he is swinging on a vine through the trees with Tarzan himself, the lord of the jungle! Tarzan snatched him right before Edward was about to get attacked by an alligator. He teaches Edward how to yell for the other animals to defend himself if he's ever in trouble again. Ironically, moments later, when Tarzan leaves, Edward yells for the animals to come to rescue. But not for the alligator this time, but for the two men who were hunting for the alligator. The tables turn as Edward has sympathy for this alligator who was going to eat him earlier. The men were frightened and sped off and let the alligator go. In return, the alligator takes Edward home across the lake. This book was so sweet and really teaches not to repay evil for evil. Instead, have compassion towards one another because we all need each other. The alligator needed Edward to rescue him and Edward needed the alligator for a ride home. ( )

Edward lets his imagination run wild again. This time, he is enjoying reading books about Tarzan and the jungle. One day, while he is reading a Tarzan book in his backyard, he is surprised by the arrival of a crocodile. He is only fearful for a moment, because Tarzan comes to rescue him by swinging through the trees on a vine. Tarzan teaches Edward to yell as he does, which invites jungle animals to surround them. As Edward gets to know his new friends, he stumbles upon the crocodile again. Only this time, the crocodile has been captured. Edward is initially happy to see he can't get him anymore, but he realizes the crocodile shouldn't be tied up and dragged away from his home. He tries to yell like Tarzan taught him in order to scare away the men. At first, it doesn't work. But when he lets out a mighty roar the second time, his animal friends come to his call. The men are afraid of the circle of growling men and they release the crocodile back into the water. Edward needs help getting home, so the crocodile gives him a ride. ( )
