Strangely gripping story, difficult to put the book down, a handful of laughs and good wit abounds. ( ) Theo Crowe, Pine Grove's only constable sums up what he's facing and what the reader can expect in this hilarious Christopher Moore novel: "Fuck that ! I got murders, drug manufacturing, some fucking giant animal of some kind, a whole town that's gone nuts, my car is mashed, and I have a crush on a crazy woman--I don't have the training for this ! No one has the fucking training for this !" Throw awal all reality and be ready to crack a rib laughing over this book. A giant sea creature wakes from his long slumber due to a radioactive spill. Feeling a tad horny, he mistakes the purring of the engine of a gas tanker as a mating call. While humping happily, the truck blows up burning the creature badly. He goes to the local trailer park and makes himself look like another trailer until he heals. Due to the bad vibes sent out by the hurting creatute, the entire town of Pine Cove becomes depressed and start eating anti depressants like candy. Great characters and a good flow makes this book hard to put down. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderdeel van de reeks(en)Pine Cove (2)
The town psychiatrist has decided to switch everybody in Pine Cove, California, from their normal antidepressants to placebos, so naturally--well, to be accurate, artificially--business is booming at the local blues bar. Trouble is, those lonely slide-guitar notes have also attracted a colossal sea beast named Steve with, shall we say, a thing for explosive oil tanker trucks. Suddenly, morose Pine Cove turns libidinous and is hit by a mysterious crime wave, and a beleaguered constable has to fight off his own gonzo appetites to find out what's wrong and what, if anything, to do about it.
