The illuminated letters were fun because I'd ask you what letter and you got them all right (20 months) You also liked the girls long hair. ( ) At the onset of this story the main character Millicent had to deal with extreme isolation from other children and loneliness as she has no friends. When the wind begins talking to Millicent (We can assume a childhood imaginary friend, or early onset schizophrenia caused by the isolation). In the story she and her mother trek for three days from the top of the mountain to the valley for supplies where she finds herself again isolated for being strange, and stating that her friend is the wind. The other children mock her and tell her to go home. Deeper isolation. The wind, then picks up the mocking child and tosses him around scaring all the little children away, in the Stephen King 'Carrie' sort of way. After returning home Millicent begins to wish for something more, a new friend. Millicent tells the wind to find her a friend, and thus, a child is kidnapped and brought without the permission of his parents to appease Millicent's loneliness. The end. This book disturbed me. On a lot of levels. I think I will write the author. Lovely little book. The story is about Millicent, living on the top of a mountain, without any friends. When she is out alone, she finds the wind is a good playmate. When they do down to the village to shop, Millicent meets other kids, but since one of them hurts her, her friend the wind 'punishes' him. The other kids ran away. Back home again, the wind finds Millicent a child to play with. Easy story, for younger children. I loved the drawings very much! geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
