An interesting tale about a scandalous affair and murder which takes place in place of residence, Indiana. It is an intersting tale as one does not read about such adulterous relationships from this era. The people and their families are brought to life through great research and good storytelling. Written in the style of In Cold Blood, true crime written in fiction genre, this tale will hold your attention through the verdict at the end of the book. It is also interesting because of the time period in which it took place. You get a good feeling for the socail atmoshpere of the time, the landscape and climate of Indiana, and a look at the inner workings of the judical system of that era. Pope Brock grew up ignorant of the dramatic circumstances surrounding his great-grandfather's death. INDIANA GOTHIC is the extraordinary result of his investigations into his family's hidden history. The true story of a passionate love-affair which sparked a tragedy, INDIANA GOTHIC encompasses murder, adultery, sibling rivalry and a sensational trial. Set at the turn of the century in a poor, pious mid-western farming community, it is the story of two sisters, one of whom falls in love with the other's husband. Erotic, dramatic, and wonderfully atmospheric, this is 'a gripping true story that reads like fiction' (The Scotsman). Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
