This folktale is a retelling of an Egyptian myth that shares of a timid boy who finds his courage by going after a monster that shrinks as he approaches it. I enjoyed this story as it want something that I would normally read. I thought the illustrations were great for culturally diversity as well as depicting beautiful images of forest and jungles. This would be a great book for a read aloud, because the various character allows the read to use variance in their tones and expressions. Also, the meaning of the myth I felt children would be able to relate too, as they may fear something and the more they fear it the bigger it seems, but if you approach your fears that are not as big and bad as they originally seemed.
