Marley Johnson is having the worst day of her life. First, she learns she's pregnant, but before she can inform her handsome and wealthy lover, Chrysander Anetakis, of the happy news, he accuses her of sabotaging his company and throws her out. As if this weren't bad enough, she is kidnapped off the street and disappears for three months.

Upon learning that his former mistress was not only abducted, but she is also pregnant and suffering from amnesia, Chrysander Anetakis decides to do the right thing for his child and help Marley even though she betrayed him. But what will happen when Marley regains her memory?

This book is a throwback to the 80s. A wealthy tycoon seduces his young, innocent secretary and sets her up as his mistress. He is easily convinced that she betrayed him and behaves like a complete jerk by throwing her out without a second's thought - it's all about him, him, him.

Marley is a doormat - plain and simple. She allows Chrysander to walk all over her both before and after her amnesia. He controls every aspect of her life, and she is not only accepting of it but descends into despair when she finally remembers - whatever happened to women's lib?

Maya Banks has written some wonderful books in her time as well as some awful duds. This one fits somewhere in between. There are glimpses of her skillful writing, but the category format is not the best vehicle for her. That said, this book does contain some of my favorite tropes, so I enjoyed it overall and will probably read more of Banks' categories.

I totally enjoy this sort of melodrama. Mistresses! Amnesia! Secret babies! Kidnapping! Evil Other Woman! Just full of crazy OTT goodness. And it took the hero a while to be sorry he caused it all too. Well with the help of the other woman. A favorite comfort read type of thing. ( )

Rather intense story but the animosity toward the heroine was over the top and went on way too long. I felt she forgave him too soon. Marley learns she is pregnant and before telling her rich boyfriend Chrysander, she tries to clarify their relationship and he says she is only his mistress then accuses her of betrayal.
