Read the first two and am glad I don't have to go on. Cooney is awfully heavy-handed about the sexism and dominance issues. Every man is flawed, most are downright evil. Every woman is a victim of men, and usually a victim of other things too.

Otoh, maybe the message could have been made more clear. I see other reviewers talking about the adventure, romance, and glamour. I mean, sure, that was all there. But seriously, those other readers must have skimmed over all the stuff they didn't want to admit was there.

I've just copied this from my review of Both Sides of Time" as I really don't have anything else to say." ( )

What ages would I recommend it too? – Fifteen and up.

Length? – Two days to read.

Characters? – Memorable, several characters.

Setting? – Real world, 1980's, and 1898.

Written approximately? – 1996.

Does the story leave questions in the readers mind? – No.

Any issues the author (or a more recent publisher) should cover? No.

Short storyline: Annie magically switches time from present to past and has to save an old boyfriend.

Notes for the reader: There are many issues. It seems every character has a point of view segment, and the switches can be confusing. The males are mostly unbelievably evil. The females are mostly trapped catering and pandering to the males, regardless of century. The style of time travel seems unrealistic, as if it is missing something. ( )

For Annie 6 months have passed since she came back to her own time. Now, with her mother in Tokyo and her father still wrapped up with his mistress a school trip to New York provides her with an opportunity. Annie knows that if she can just get to the Stratton New York residence Time will cooperate and return her to her love.

For Strat, three years have passed since the disappearance of his beloved Anna Sophia. Worse, Walk has convinced his father he is insane and they have imprisoned him in an asylum, a fate almost worse than death in the 1800s.

Oddly, this book really doesn't pick up where the last one left off which wasn't exactly frustrating, but I thought it was a bit unusual. It almost seemed as though the author was going to go in one direction at the end of the last story and then changed her mind starting the sequel. Although I enjoyed this story, the main character is still my least favorite of the cast, I really can't make myself like her. However, the storyline carries the reader along and the insights into a past time were interesting. I will certainly be reading the last two of this quartet of books. ( )
