In "All About Great Rivers of the World", Anne Terry White reports on five of the world's mightiest streams -- the Nile, the Amazon, the Yangtze, the Volga, and the Mississippi. Vividly she tells how these rivers have developed through the ages and how each one has affected the land and people along its banks. Slightly outdated, but an excellent introduction to the geography and history of the world's biggest rivers and the countries through which they flow, at least from an Americocentric viewpoint. The Amazon, the Nile, and the Yangtze are discussed, among others; the writing shows definite signs of its 1950s origins, but the level of detail and care for scientific accuracy is certainly at a level suitable for modern high-schoolers. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
