Lot of big stuff happening in this one. Nick putting together the new team, Hank Pym's being substituted for a skrull, the Sentry turning into the Void. Definitely need to read this one if you're doing the Secret Invasion event. ( )

I think that I'm going into "universe-wide events" overload, especially when the events are all over the place. And this trade is definitely all over the place, with little cohesion except that all of the stories somehow tie into the Secret Invasion event. But unless you've been keeping up with that, you really have no idea what is going on in these pages.

The first two issues deal with the aftermath of the Secret War that was orchestrated by Nick Fury and what he does after that. These issues lead into the Secret Warriors: Nick Fury, Agent of Nothing book, which I have no interest in reading, so therefore I really had no interest in reading these two issues, either.

Next comes an issue that deals with the Sentry, but that isn't really interesting. Okay, the guy has mental problems and pretty much limitless power. And he is crazy. I got all of that already; I don't need yet another issue telling me all of this, or how people plan on manipulating this. Either do something with the character or get rid of him; at this point, I really don't care which it is.

And then comes an issue centering around Hank Pym, who has left the Avengers and is working on his research in England. Apparently he and Janet have, once again, tried (and failed) to patch up their relationship. Janet acts like a jerk, while Pym is actually the level-headed one here...that is strange. And then he starts seeing a girl who is half his age - big surprise there - and things aren't what they seem. Once again, big surprise.

There's nothing collected here that is necessary to the Secret Invasion event at all, unless you're fascinated by Nick Fury or the Sentry or Hank Pym. I don't think that there are many people who are. ( )
