This book is a good early beginner chapter book that gives students an entry into these kinds of books. It is a wonderful little adventure where the characters go on to the park to play in the snow.

This book is about Henry and Mudge. They see that there is a snowman contest and rush to ask their father. When they get to him, he is painting a chair and he has green paint all over. This gives Henry an idea for the contest. Henry, mudge and his father, head to the contest and make their snowman. They made a creative snowman that was covered in green paint just like his father was. They won 3rd place for most original.

This book is a good one. I probably would just leave this on my shelf as a book for my students to read. It is one of those books that is for independent or one on one reading. I don't think that I would do a read aloud with this book. ( )
